Natyamani School of Dance is the premiere institution for Bharatanatyam in the Greater Boston area. The school’s founder, Sridevi Ajai Thirumalai, is an acclaimed Bharatanatyam dancer who has dedicated her efforts to propagating this divine art-form to a diverse range of students.

Founded in 1992, Natyamani School of Dance has built a reputation of imparting rigorous training, while maintaining the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of Bharatanatyam. Natyamani’s mission is to instill in students a love for Bharatanatyam, and to provide guidance and encouragement that supports the development of a true dancer’s grace, perfection, and perseverance.

Students at Natyamani learn to perfect all facets of dancing: Bhava (expression), Raga (melody) and Tala (rhythm). Sridevi, with her passionate and signature teaching style brings out the best in her students both on and off the stage. Under Sridevi’s tutelage each student develops a life long work ethic that emphasizes a commitment to the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of their lives.

Over 40 students have completed their Arangetram (dance debut) through the school, emerging as dancers who have won awards and acclaim in national and international performances that reflect Natyamani’s mission.

Natyamani School of Dance is the recipient of a grant from Southern New England Folk and Traditional Arts Apprenticeship program. The school has a social mission that includes raising community awareness for traditional arts and raising funds for charitable organizations in New England and India through dance productions. In 2012, the school celebrated its 20th anniversary with Kshetra, a dance production that served as a fund raiser for Akshaya Patra, a non-profit organization that provides mid-day meals to over 1.3 million school children in India every day.

Natyamani School of Dance currently enrolls students from beginner to advanced levels.
